On chartering from Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel is a two-airport decision made for you by aircraft type and by event weekend. Innsbruck is the shorter jet time and the natural first choice; Salzburg is the fall-back when INN ski-season slots are full or when the mission calls for a heavy or ultra-long-range jet.
The Innsbruck approach is not exceptional in aircraft capability but requires operator experience with Alpine terrain and Inn Valley weather. The 2,000 m runway at 1,907 ft elevation handles turboprop, light, and midsize jets comfortably; super-midsize is the practical ceiling. Salzburg's 2,750 m runway and eight based operators handle everything up to ultra-long-range without restriction.
The market is event-driven in a way that pricing reflects. The Hahnenkamm World Cup weekend concentrates arrivals into three or four days, followed by January snow polo and, in summer, the ATP tennis tournament. Innsbruck reaches slot saturation on those weekends and slot coordination should start 3 to 6 weeks ahead; Salzburg absorbs the overflow.
Onward transport is straightforward: 1h 15m by road from either gateway along Alpine motorways, with peak-weekend traffic adding a further 15 to 30 minutes on the tightest days. Sunday afternoons after peak weekends generate the most reliable empty-leg inventory back to London, Zurich, Frankfurt, and Vienna.
