Munich departures

MUC
Munich Franz Josef Strauss

Munich is 28.5 km north east of the city with two 4,000 m runways, so aircraft performance is never the constraint. Private and business traffic is handled at the General Aviation Terminal on the north east side of the Terminal 2 apron, a 120,000 sq m area with up to 50 parking stands. Arrivals and departures are banned between 22:00 and 06:00, with narrow exemptions, so evening schedules need care.

OBF
Oberpfaffenhofen

Oberpfaffenhofen sits about 22 km west of Munich and takes business aviation only, with no scheduled traffic and none of the airline slot pressure of MUC. Runway 04/22 is 2,286 m by 45 m, ample for light and midsize jets, and the field is PPR with operating hours of roughly 07:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and later starts at weekends. It is the faster option for passengers based in the west and south west of the city.

IBZ
Ibiza

Ibiza is 7 km south west of the town with a single 2,800 m runway (06/24) and a dedicated General Aviation Terminal. Handling is compulsory for every general and business aviation movement, and the field is a Level 3 coordinated airport, so each arrival and departure needs a confirmed slot. Summer hours are 24 hours; from 1 November the airport runs 0630 to 2300 with one hour PPR outside those times.

Palma de Mallorca

Palma is not a substitute for landing on Ibiza, but it is the field that absorbs the overflow: two runways of 3,270 m and 3,000 m, 24 hour operation and far more apron space. Crews routinely drop passengers at Ibiza and reposition the aircraft to Palma when overnight parking on Ibiza is refused, and Palma is also the practical weather and technical alternate.

FAQ

Common questions on this route

How long does the flight from Munich to Ibiza take?
About 2h 15m direct on a light jet over 1,345 km, with no fuel stop required. A midsize jet trims that to roughly 2h 05m and a super-midsize to just under 2h. Departing from Oberpfaffenhofen instead of Munich shortens the sector by about 50 km.
What does a Munich to Ibiza charter cost?
Light jets run 15,500 to 20,500 one way, midsize jets 19,000 to 25,000 and super-midsize aircraft 24,000 to 31,500. August weekends sit at the top of each band because aircraft are hard to position and Ibiza parking is scarce.
Do I need a slot to land at Ibiza?
Yes. Ibiza is a Level 3 coordinated airport and every business aviation arrival and departure needs a confirmed slot, issued in a narrow window. Ground handling is also compulsory for all general and business aviation, so the handler files the slot request alongside the handling request.
Why does aircraft size matter more than usual on this route?
Ibiza apron space is the binding constraint in summer, not the runway. From 1 May to 15 October an aircraft with a wingspan over 18 m staying more than three hours needs a stand approved before a slot will be granted, and overnight parking is often refused outright at peak. A light or midsize jet is materially easier to place.
Should I depart from Munich or Oberpfaffenhofen?
Munich has two 4,000 m runways, a dedicated General Aviation Terminal and a wide handling choice, but it is busy and closed to traffic from 22:00 to 06:00. Oberpfaffenhofen is business aviation only, PPR, with a 2,286 m runway and evening closure, and it is quicker to reach from the west and south west of the city.
Can the aircraft stay on Ibiza for a long weekend?
Sometimes, but plan for it not to. Peak season parking on Ibiza is the hardest to secure in the Balearics, the commercial apron limit is one week between June and September, and operators can be asked to relocate an aircraft within three hours. Repositioning to Palma between legs is the usual answer and is priced into the quote.
