Amsterdam Schiphol

Schiphol is 9 km south west of Amsterdam with six runways, the longest 3,800 m, so it handles any aircraft in any weather. Business aviation uses the general aviation centre on the east side of the field, opened in 2011 and now operated as Jet Aviation Amsterdam. It is a fully coordinated airport, and business aviation slots are requested through Airport Coordination Netherlands in GCR format.

Rotterdam The Hague

Rotterdam sits 5.5 km north north west of the city and is the friendlier field for business aviation: one 2,199 m runway (06/24), short taxi times and a dedicated FBO. It is also slot coordinated by Airport Coordination Netherlands, and night movements are discouraged by a steep charges regime, with the heaviest surcharges applied between 23:30 and 06:30. Best choice for passengers in Rotterdam, The Hague or the Zuid Holland business belt.

Nice Cote d'Azur

Nice is 7 km west of the city with runways of 2,960 m and 2,570 m, and it is the only Riviera field that takes the full range of aircraft. The Business Aviation Terminal beside Terminal 2 opened in March 2010 and covers roughly 1,510 sq m; handling is limited by licence to three FBOs, AviaVIP, Signature Aviation and DC Aviation G-OPS. Expect heavy congestion in July and August and during the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix.

Cannes Mandelieu

Cannes Mandelieu is 5 km west of Cannes and is business and general aviation only. Jets are capped at 35 tonnes MTOW and turboprops at 22 tonnes, which covers light, midsize and super-midsize types but excludes the largest ultra long range aircraft. The airport opens at 08:00 and closes between 20:00 and 22:00 depending on the season, with no overtime granted, and it becomes slot coordinated during the Cannes Film Festival period.

FAQ

Common questions on this route

How long is the flight from Amsterdam to Nice by private jet?
About 1h 50m direct on a light jet over 980 km. A midsize jet cuts it to roughly 1h 40m and a super-midsize to about 1h 35m. Departing from Rotterdam instead of Schiphol saves a few minutes in the air and usually more on the ground.
What does an Amsterdam to Nice charter cost?
Light jets run 13,000 to 17,500 one way, midsize jets 16,500 to 21,500 and super-midsize aircraft 20,500 to 27,000. Prices sit at the top of each band on July and August weekends, when aircraft positioning into the Riviera is expensive.
Should I fly from Schiphol or Rotterdam?
Schiphol has the widest handling choice and no aircraft limitations, but it is fully coordinated and taxi times are long. Rotterdam has one 2,199 m runway, a dedicated Jet Aviation FBO and much shorter ground time, and it suits passengers in Rotterdam or The Hague. Both need a slot through Airport Coordination Netherlands.
Can I land at Cannes Mandelieu instead of Nice?
Yes, if the aircraft fits. Jets are limited to 35 tonnes MTOW at Cannes, which covers light through super-midsize types, and the airport is open from 08:00 until 20:00 to 22:00 depending on the season with no overtime. During the Cannes Film Festival it becomes slot coordinated and PPR.
How far ahead should I book for the summer?
For Thursday to Sunday travel in July and August, at least a week, and considerably more for the Monaco Grand Prix or the Cannes Film Festival in May. The constraint is Nice apron parking and aircraft availability rather than airspace, so early booking mainly buys you the better ground arrangements.
Do passengers clear customs on this route?
No. The Netherlands and France are both in the Schengen area, so a direct flight involves no border control at either end. Passengers still carry photo identification, and the operator files the standard flight documentation with both airports.
